WHO: Most Kids Shouldn’t Get COVID Vaccines

Parents are urged to vaccinate their kids. They aren’t told the World Health Organization disagrees.

This statement appeared on the website of the World Health Organization from 8 April 2021 until late yesterday (75 days); click image to enlarge

The World Health Organization (WHO) has a web page offering advice to the public about COVID-19 vaccines. For the past 75 days that page has declared emphatically, in bold font: “Children should not be vaccinated for the moment.”

The WHO has two reasons. #1: we don’t have enough evidence about how these vaccines might affect people under age 18. #2: children and teenagers “tend to have milder disease compared to adults,” which means they are at significantly lower risk should they become infected.

Since early last year, the WHO has failed spectacularly at its core mission: preventing the spread of disease across international borders. It has repeatedly misled us (see the list of articles at the bottom of this post). But public health officials across the globe, as well as the Big Tech censorship machine, have spent the entire pandemic insisting the WHO is an authoritative body whose word should be treated as gospel.

Which makes it very strange that the Canadian province in which I reside has decided that COVID vaccines are “safe and effective” for kids as young as 12. A three-page government Fact Sheet says not one word about the WHO’s contrary position.

It’s also strange that the Canadian Paediatric Society says its members “should advocate for and promote COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 12 years and older.” In a statement published last month, the Society cites a WHO document in footnote #27. But it neglects to mention that its position is at odds with the WHO.

Similarly, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) advises parents to “Get a COVID-19 vaccine for your child as soon as you can.” It, too, fails to acknowledge that the WHO thinks otherwise.

Parents currently lining up to get their kids vaccinated surely have a right to know that the WHO considers this course of action unwise. Why is such an important fact being hidden from the public?

Late yesterday, the WHO made changes to this web page. Its 46-word discussion about kids and vaccines is now three times that length. The WHO still says these vaccines “are safe for most people 18 years and older.” Although the bold font declaration that children shouldn’t be vaccinated at this time is now gone, the WHO’s position has changed only slightly.

It says “More evidence is needed on the use of the different COVID-19 vaccines in children” before general recommendations can be made.

It says children who are medically “at high risk” may be vaccinated, but only with one brand – Pfizer.

Parents have a right to know this.

Archive.org‘s last backup of the 8 April to 22 June 2021 version of the WHO web page occurred shortly before 5 pm yesterday in my time zone (Eastern Time). You can see it here. The next time Archive.org backed up the page, shortly past midnight, the content had changed.
