SPOTLIGHT: It’s almost impossible to have an honest conversation about European immigration.
BIG PICTURE: During the years 2013-2017, a record-breaking 4 million people applied for asylum/refugee status in Europe. Data from 2015 indicates that nearly two thirds (61%) were males under the age of 35.
During this period, immigration authorities were overwhelmed. Greek and Italian coastal cities, as well as locales in Germany, Sweden, and Hungary, struggled to process thousands of arrivals per day. There was no time for meaningful screening.
These refugees were in addition to numerous other avenues by which large numbers of immigrants from around the world were already being welcomed into Europe.
While opinion polls indicate growing public unease about the scale and pace of immigration, that unease is studiously ignored by politicians. It’s also ignored by another arm of the cultural elite – journalists.
Media personalities think their job is to celebrate immigration rather than honestly report what’s happening. They think their job is to shame ordinary people into silence lest they say something politically incorrect. They think their job is to reflexively smear as far-right, alt-right, racist, and Nazi any political party that gives voice to the public’s sincere misgivings.
2015 data tells us that half (54%) of all asylum seekers arrived from three troubled countries: Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Gender equality. Religious liberty. Tolerance toward Jews and homosexuals. None of those are the norm in these countries.
The irony here is painful. At the same time that tolerant Europeans are being systematically muzzled, the cultural elites have been championing and applauding a tsunami of young men whose values are, in fact, profoundly patriarchal, homophobic, and anti-Semitic. Those values aren’t about to magically disappear.
TOP TAKEAWAY: Sexual assault is increasing in Europe. So is gay bashing. So are attacks on Jews.

It is nevertheless a fact that the more young men a society contains, the more crime it has to contend with. This is yet another reason why Europeans have every right to be concerned.
